Downtown Design 2021

The Associative Design – The Best of Portugal took part in Downtown Design 2021, during Dubai Design Week from 8–12 November 2021, at Dubai Design District (d3). Under the theme “Made in Portugal Naturally”, the exhibition showcased a curated selection of Portuguese furniture, porcelain, textiles, and bespoke creations, inspired by elements of traditional Arabic architecture. That edition of Dubai Design Week attracted over 90,000 visitors, with Downtown Design reporting a 20% increase in professional attendance, reflecting the region’s growing interest in contemporary and sustainable design.

The Portuguese showcase was met with enthusiastic reception from architects, designers and industry professionals, who praised the quality, innovation and natural elegance of the pieces on display. The stand became a point of reference for visitors seeking distinctive and sustainable design solutions, leading to several strategic business contacts and media coverage in specialised publications. Associative Design’s presence significantly strengthened the visibility of Portuguese design in the Middle East, positioning Portugal as a rising force in the premium design segment.
