London Design Fair 2019

The Associative Design – The Best of Portugal showcased the excellence of Portuguese design at the 2019 London Design Fair, held from 19–22 September at the Old Truman Brewery. Curated by Salete Peixinho, the exhibition highlighted Portugal’s innovative, sustainable, and artisanal approach, presenting works from emerging designers and established brands. Among standout pieces were the DAM’s handcrafted cork-based furniture, Christophe de Sousa’s minimalist SLIM Chair, and Gencork’s digitally crafted cork walls. The event attracted over 29,000 international visitors, including architects, designers, and buyers, offering a vibrant platform to promote Portuguese creativity, craftsmanship, and environmental responsibility. Associative Design’s participation emphasised Portugal’s commitment to sustainability and positioned its furniture and home decor industry as globally competitive.
